DLM History: September 2009 Archives

Do you live in the Kansas City Metro area? Do you find your heart being stirred for more in life?

Does the idea of becoming part of a community centered around Christ like a big extended family sound appealing to you?

Have you failed to find God and connect despite going through all the motions and things you can think of?

Are you deeply in love with God? Do you genuinely want to know Him more? Do you want to fall in love with God? Do you want to find and connect with genuine and authentic people?

I have long felt God telling me to step out to build a fellowship like this. One that is more than anything, like an extended family. It is a fellowship from which house groups will start, the first step of launching this ministry, but the purpose is not just to launch this ministry. Rather that will be a by-product of it.

A fellowship with an agenda will often to some degree suffer. A fellowship with an agenda is more like a membership with an organization, not like an extended family of which is free of any agenda.

While some in this fellowship I believe will go on to become leaders in DLM, most will not. An extended family is full of people of diverse callings, interests and passions, but they are of course while different, still very supportive of each other.

An extended family isn't always together and there may be times when they are apart, but they do life together in many ways for a good part if not most of their life. That is the spirit and heart behind the idea of this fellowship - one of extended family and support for each other. I have had this in my own life with my biological family since I was born, but I know many do not and I know a good deal of people have no close family they know in this way.

While a family has limits as to the size it can grow to an extended family does not. I don't know how big this fellowship might become, but it will be and act like an extended family.

This isn't to replace or become a church.

This isn't an organized organization of any kind. It is simply an extended fellowship of men and women in Christ. It will be one with men and women and kids of all ages, walks and places in their journey of faith.

If God is awakening, stirring or doing a work in your heart in response to hearing this I encourage you to prayerfully seek his direction in it. If you are interested in becoming part of this fellowship you can send an email, make a comment on the blog or connect on the DLM facebook page to leave a comment there.

For the past 4 years the logo has been pretty basic for Desired Life Ministries.

If you are a graphic artist and or have some creative thoughts on logo ideas then this is your chance to give some feedback and or submit your artwork for our new graphic logo.

If you would like to donate your creativity please indicate that with your ideas. If you would require compensation please provide a project bid for the work via email for the cost of the design. If you have portfolio examples of your work online please submit your site and or ideas on a comment to this blog entry below so that others can submit feedback on your ideas too.

Designed in 2005 it looks like this:

Here are guidelines for the new graphic logo to work with:

1) The new graphic logo (minus the current text of Desired Life Ministries) should fit inside a square space as little as 1/2 inch and be expandable to any size.

2) It should not have words in it because it will be used along with the exisiting logo. It would be be placed above the current Desired Life Ministries logo or it would be put to the left of the current logo. Feel free to change the existing fonts in the layout of the current logo, but keep the word desired in green and life in black and ministries in black.

3) The new graphic logo will primarily be used on social media sites that are designed to use a square image for the user icon. It would also be used on the website and other ministry materials too.

4) The design would need to be royalty free and if any compensation is desired it would need to be paid as a one time fee upon completion of the work. A project bid should be submitted and accepted before any billable work is started.

5) The graphic logo should be kept some what simple with no more than 3 colors. The desired concept is to have 3 shapes with one different color each. There would be 2 on the bottom with the one of the left symbolizing the restoration of the heart and the one on the right for the renewal of the mind and the one on top for the empowerment of vision.

6) The logo needs to be designed in a format so the graphic is scaleable without having pixelation occur at any size.
