The Call

The call is for people who upon hearing it and the purpose of it feel nudged by God and have it confirmed by God to respond to it.

Who is it for?

The call is for anyone who realizes that a spouse, kids, a home, a car and yearly vacations with a job to pay for it all is not the full extent of God's plan for their life, but who are not yet certain what their calling is or where God is directing them in life. While all of those things are good and can make an impact for eternity, the call is for those who feel called to more and feel led to step out in faith towards it. This call is not for everyone, it is only for those who are called to respond to it and whose choice to respond is confirmed as explained below.

Why is DLM sending the call out to the world?

The call is being sent out first and foremost because God has made it clear it is to be sent out. The secondary reason is because the purpose for it is to be used by God to help those who some where along the way have got stuck and are trying to get out of a routine in life and embrace God's call on their life and or to discover what God's call is on their life. Those who are called to respond to the call and for whom it is confirmed for them to go as explained below are likely to be some of the first people to help DLM move into the next stages of the ministry and or go on to impact others and the world for Christ. The call is not for the purpose of blessing or building DLM, but for the purpose of blessing others and serving them, as a ministry organization is blessed when they first bless others. Though some may become a part of DLM in what is to come - that is not the intent or motive of the call. The intent of the call is to be faithful to God's leading and to serve others.

The Requirements of This Call

1) You know it is for you. The call is going out to the world, it is only for those who upon hearing it and learning its purpose, are prompted to respond to it by God. Before you can respond to the call, you must personally hear God speak to your heart to come and or have a strong assurance God wants you to come. How do you know if this is what you have experienced? You just know - if you are having serious doubts - you may not being prompted to respond to the call. God wants us to know His will, more than we want to know it, if it is His will for you to come, He will make it clear to you. If you don't know and don't hear from God to come, please don't come. 

2) You are not running away from where God has you. If you are struggling with life and are thinking of responding to the call to run away or escape what God is doing in your life where you are - this is not for you. This is not a call to run from problems, you can not run from problems, but must go to God with your problems. The call is not for running from God, but for drawing closer to Him. If you come running from your problems, and what God wants to do with you where you are at, you won't experience the breakthroughs here in coming. This does not mean you can not be dealing with things in your life that are hard or that you have to have life figured out, it just means that running from problems by going to a new city is not what the call is about nor will the call help you if you come to run from things.

3) You get a job before you move to confirm your called to come. If after seeking God you are lead to respond to the call, start applying for jobs in Kansas City. Join the group on our community site for the call and put out a post you are looking for jobs and or roommates as well. If God leads you to respond to the call, He will also provide a job for you in Kansas City before you make the permanent move to Kansas City as a confirmation the call is for you. If God tells you something otherwise, you need to pray about it and seek confirmation, moving to Kansas City and not having a job, to end up here unemployed is not advised or suggested. It will also require an exception. You must ultimately do what God leads you to do, but do not guess on this - you need to seek clarity and or have a job before you come in response to the call - seek confirmation in it.

4) You have a place to live with or near others who come. Look for roommates in the group for the call. Moving to a new city with a new job in response to the call, having roommates who have done the same is going to be an important part of the work God will do in your life in rooming with others stepping out in faith who are doing the same. In fact, finding roommates who are coming in response to the call is something you are expected to have unless God has told you to come without them in faith. Knowing for certain God brought you here will help you grow and walk in faith in big ways and everything here is to help you know this is where you are to be.

5) Ready and able to handle obstacles. Expect obstacles, problems and things to go wrong or come up to try and divert you from responding to the call after God has confirmed things to you. Stepping out in faith like this and trusting and believing God in it is very likely to be something the enemy is going to try to stop and shut down from happening. Those who are called to respond to the call are going to be changed by God and experience things that would not have happened if they did not have these series of events lead them into something more as a result of the call. However, this will not be a easy process, and obstacles and challenges are likely to happen. This is about moving out in faith out of your comfort zone and that is not a easy thing to do, but for those it is for and who come in faith it is going to be a life changing season in their life.

What It Will Look Like When You Get Here

Where DLM is at in this season this is going to look simple and basic. The church started in a age when people walked or rode animals and there was no printing press and no media - what they had was simply people called and chosen by God who relied and trusted God who had encountered the risen Jesus, who were empowered by the Holy Spirit, and they changed the world. We don't need advanced systems and ministry things to walk in this, but just faith and trust in God for what comes and what He is going to do through it.

The call is being sent to rally people to come and encounter Jesus and to find their purpose in life. The call is for those who want to know Him more and His calling on their life. 

This is not about DLM or about you, it is about a greater movement of God rising up people called to something more. There may soon very well be others that send out a call who are inspired by this call. The call they send may be for you. If 5 or 500 people respond to this call the impact will be exactly as God has purposed for this call to have on the world. 

God is looking for those who are willing to follow Him. Your talents, abilities or skills are not what this is about - regardless of who you are - what God does through you will be what you could not have done in your own ability in being a part of the call.

The details on how this will look will be explained in more detail to those who respond to the call. There are a few basic and simple things with this and how it is to look I feel are what God has set in motion.

Living in Community

It is highly suggested and advised you find roommates in the call group to live with in Kansas City as it will play a big part in experiencing and growing in all that God has for you. You can come with people you know or look for new roommates in the community group. Please plan to find roommates who are coming as part of the call, it will be a large part of what God uses in this to grow and mold you through this.
